I am self starter with dreams of becoming somebody. I speak Español and like my French fries without salt!

Growing up in Greenwich, Connecticut there was nothing I wanted more than to be a personal trainer. Every morning while I was in middle school I would wake up at 5AM and go for a two mile run. All I wanted was to embark on a lifestyle that was influential enough to change the way I thought and the way others may think.

I am now a senior at the University of Rhode Island majoring in Journalism and Spanish, with a minor in Nutrition. If you haven't already guessed by now, my dreams of becoming a personal trainer were put on hold. I came to URI and enrolled in multiple science courses, all in preparation for a major in Kinesiology. What I didn't know at the time was that science wasn't really my strong suit. Don't worry, I learned that lesson pretty quickly.

Here I am, four years into my undergraduate career, about a month away from graduation. Although my dreams of becoming a personal trainer have changed, my vision of the perfect career has not. I realized that with a degree in journalism I could still inform, educate and ultimately affect change onto the world in which we live in. Something I've always had the dream of doing.

I have been working on this portfolio since I was a sophomore and have been able to compile multimedia work, writing samples and on-camera packages to better prepare myself for a career in the field of broadcast journalism. I started out wanting to work strictly in print journalism because of my passion for writing and it wasn't until my junior year of college that I really fell in love with the broadcast side of this career.

Through my many internship opportunities, I have learned and strengthened my skills as a multimedia journalist. I can write, shoot and edit my own work, can conduct interviews as a one-man-band and deliver newsworthy content under strict deadlines. The learning outcomes I will explore in this portfolio will expand on my abilities as a journalist and will also include samples of work reflective of each individual learning outcome.

Thanks for stopping by!
